A man was taken into custody on an aggravated robbery charge after a shooting in the parking lot of the Burger King at 400 East Cypresswood Drive in Spring on Sunday, August 2.

Constable Mark Herman's Office announced the arrest Monday, August 3, one day after deputies responded to the disturbance near the North Freeway. The suspect's name has not been released.

According to the constable's office, the suspect and victim became involved in a struggle over a firearm during the incident. The victim, an adult male, was shot in the leg and transported to a local hospital, according to Click2Houston. His condition has not been updated.

KHOU reported that the victim told deputies he was giving someone a ride when an exchange occurred and he was shot. It was not clear whether the shooting happened while the victim was driving or after the two arrived at the Burger King.

The arrest came quickly.

Deputies posted a live alert on X during the response Sunday, noting a heavy law enforcement presence at the location. Constable Herman's office said at the time that the investigation was active and asked residents to avoid the area.

The 400 block of East Cypresswood Drive sits along a busy commercial corridor near Interstate 45. Deputies located the suspect and took the suspect into custody the same day as the shooting, according to the constable's announcement on X.

No motive was included in the initial update. The suspect's name and additional details could emerge through booking records or court filings as the case moves forward.

Aggravated robbery under Texas law can involve robbery paired with serious bodily injury or the use of a deadly weapon. The charge is an allegation, not a conviction.
