Eight people face criminal trespass charges after Harris County Constable Precinct 4 deputies caught them at the abandoned MainStreet America property in Spring, an enforcement action the agency tied to a viral TikTok trend encouraging people to explore deserted buildings.

Constable Mark Herman announced the arrests on Wednesday, July 29, releasing mugshots of those taken into custody. Two tried to run. They were tracked from the air by the constable's drone units, nicknamed Iceman and Viper, according to Click2Houston. Those two face additional charges of evading arrest on foot.

"A TikTok trend isn't worth a criminal record... especially when Iceman is watching," Herman said, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

MainStreet America was originally opened in 2013 by Design Tech Homes as a showcase of 12 model homes. The property was sold in 2023 and has sat vacant since, drawing so-called urban explorers whose videos attract hundreds of thousands of views on TikTok and YouTube.

This is the second time the trend has led to arrests at the same location. In March, six people were arrested on trespassing allegations there, including two juveniles. Herman said one of those juveniles ran from deputies while carrying a loaded handgun.

Other Precinct 4 enforcement actions on July 29

The TikTok arrests capped a day of active enforcement across the Spring area. Also on July 29, deputies captured a suspect near Cypresswood Drive and Strack Road after an active search involving Deputy Clark, drone Iceman, K-9 Bas, and his handler Sgt. Baskins.

Separately, Corporal Aguilar contacted a suspicious person near 24100 Running Iron Drive. That suspect fled on foot and was later captured after deputies set a perimeter and deployed Iceman again. The constable's office said the suspect had entered a residence before being apprehended.

Herman urged parents to talk with their children about viral social media challenges, warning they can lead to serious legal consequences. The constable's office said anyone caught trespassing or committing crimes in Precinct 4 can expect to be arrested.
