Linda Ford defeated incumbent Dustin Qualls in the Klein ISD Position 1 board race, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Unofficial results from Harris County, as reported on Election Night, show Ford received 39,537 votes, or 55.97%, to Qualls' 31,097 votes, or 44.03%, according to Klein ISD. The Chronicle described Ford as a longtime educator and Lone Star College professor.
The results remain unofficial until the required canvassing process is complete, Klein ISD said. Once canvassed, the elected trustees will be sworn in for three-year terms.
The Klein ISD Board of Trustees is a seven-member body governing the district, a large suburban school system in Harris County. Members serve three-year terms in at-large, non-partisan elections, according to a Community Impact candidate Q&A published in September.
Only contested Klein ISD seat
Position 1 was the only contested Klein ISD board race on the ballot. Qualls was seeking a second term. Ford is the challenger.
Board President Doug James ran unopposed for Position 2 and will retain his seat with 52,223 votes, according to Klein ISD. James is seeking his fourth term.
