Harris County voters have cast 781,940 early ballots through Oct. 27, and the early voting window is about to close.
The unofficial tally from the Harris County Clerk's Office includes 742,233 in-person check-ins and 39,707 mail ballots, CW39 reported. On Oct. 27 alone, 75,248 people showed up at early voting sites across the county. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Spring-area polling sites
Three early voting locations sit in the Spring area, according to Fox 26's location list:
- Cactus Jack Cagle Community Center, 709 Riley Fuzzel Road, Spring
- George H.W. Bush Community Center, 6827 Cypresswood Drive, Spring
- Klein Multipurpose Center, 7500 Farm to Market 2920 Road, Klein
Voters are not limited to those sites. Any registered Harris County voter can cast a ballot at any of the county's 75 early voting locations.
Pace far ahead of 2022
The pace was set on the first day. More than 104,600 people voted in person on Oct. 19, breaking the previous midterm first-day record of 63,188 set in 2018, according to Fox 26. No midterm in county records since 1998 started faster, ABC 13 reported.
Steven David, a former Houston city executive who built an online dashboard tracking public voting records, told KPRC the county's early vote is running 1.6 times ahead of the 2022 midterm and at about 86% of a presidential election's pace. "This is more like a presidential year than it is a nonpresidential year," David said.
He cautioned against reading the numbers as a prediction. "It's not in the bag. Everybody still has to get out and vote," he said.
More voters on the rolls
Harris County has 2.7 million registered voters heading into the midterm, up from 2.5 million in 2022, according to Texas Secretary of State figures cited by the Defender Network. Even measured as a share of all registered voters, turnout is running ahead of every midterm on record, ABC 13 reported.
David said early voting accounted for 67% of total turnout in the 2022 midterm and 75% in the 2024 presidential election. The turnout figures remain unofficial until the county completes its required reconciliation process.
All 75 Harris County early voting locations are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 30.
