Spring-area residents can now skip the paperwork line at the county tax office by submitting vehicle registration documents online before they walk in the door.
The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office launched Priority Pass during the week of Tuesday, July 28, according to Houston Public Media. The free service lets residents upload and verify their registration paperwork through the MyHarrisCountyTax platform. Once documents clear automatic verification, the system generates a barcode. Bring that barcode to any branch, and staff can process the registration without the counter-side paperwork shuffle that backs up lines.
The service is free.
Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar Annette Ramirez's office said in a July 31 news release that Priority Pass is the next step in consolidating the tax office's services onto a single digital platform.
To use Priority Pass for a registration renewal, residents must be the vehicle's registered owner and hold a Texas driver's license with a Harris County address, according to KHOU.
Same platform, property taxes too
MyHarrisCountyTax launched in 2025 as the county's online property tax payment portal. The platform already lets homeowners pay taxes on multiple properties at once, set up prepayment plans, view bill history, and receive due-date reminders by email. Adding vehicle registration puts two of the tax office's highest-traffic services under one login.
The office's Property Tax Division maintains roughly 1.5 million accounts and collects for 70 taxing entities across Harris County.

The Cypress Hill location at 4290 Cypress Hill Dr., Spring, TX 77388, is the closest tax office branch for most Spring-area residents. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All branches are closed Wednesdays so staff can process vehicle title transactions under new state law requirements and complete ongoing training.
