A man was shot in the leg Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 7, near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Drive and Broad Haven Drive in Spring, the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) said.

Deputies responded to the 11200 block of Veterans Memorial Drive just before 3:45 p.m. after receiving a shooting call, Fox 26 Houston reported. The victim was shot in his lower extremity and transported to a hospital, where he is expected to recover, according to ABC13.

HCSO described the injuries as non-life-threatening.

Authorities have not released the victim's name. No suspect information, vehicle description or motive has been made public. HCSO told ABC13 there were no witnesses to the shooting and that investigators are working to determine what led up to the incident.

The lack of witnesses could complicate the investigation, which remained ongoing as of Wednesday evening. HCSO has not announced any scheduled updates or press briefings related to the case.

The Oct. 7 shooting marks the second time in less than two weeks that gunfire has been reported along Veterans Memorial Drive in the Spring area. On Sept. 27, a man was fatally shot in the 12400 block of Veterans Memorial Drive, near W. Richey Road, at what investigators described as an illegal game room, according to KHOU. That case involved a different victim and a different location roughly a mile south of Wednesday's scene.

The two incidents are not known to be connected. HCSO has not indicated any link between them.
