The northbound connector ramp from I-45 North to I-10 East/Milam closed Saturday, August 1, and will shut down every night through Friday, August 14, according to TxDOT closure notices compiled by Houston TranStar. The ramp goes dark at 8 p.m. and reopens at 5 a.m. each morning.

That two-week window overlaps with the first days of school. Both Spring ISD and Klein ISD start classes Wednesday, August 12, according to the Harris County Department of Education calendar. The ramp will still be closing nightly through that first week, affecting Spring-area drivers who use I-45 North to connect eastbound on I-10.

TxDOT's posted detour: stay on I-45 northbound, exit at North Main, make a U-turn, and access I-10 eastbound from there.

The I-45 North closure is the longest single shutdown in a batch of Houston-area freeway work reported by ABC13 on Saturday, August 1. Other closures affecting the region this weekend include:

  • I-45 Gulf: Three outside southbound lanes from Griggs Road to I-610 South Loop closed from 9 p.m. Friday, July 31, through 5 a.m. Monday, August 3.
  • I-45 Gulf Downtown: The southbound exit ramp to Pierce Street closes nightly 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Monday, August 3. Detour via exit 47c to McKinney Street.
  • I-610 West Loop: The southbound connector ramp to I-69 Southwest closes nightly 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Wednesday, August 12. Detour via Hidalgo and Richmond Avenue.
  • I-610 South Loop: Three outside westbound lanes from Kirby Drive to Buffalo Speedway close nightly 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, August 7.

Spring-area drivers who use the I-45 North/I-10 East interchange should build extra time into evening trips or find alternate routes before the ramp reopens each morning at 5 a.m.
