Spring Fire Department's newest apparatus, a water tanker designated Tanker 74, is on its way to Spring and expected to enter active service within weeks.

The department announced on X that firefighters will train on the tanker's features and outfit it with hoses and other equipment before it goes on the road. No specific in-service date was given beyond "a few weeks."

Tanker 74 is the fourth new apparatus Spring Fire has added in 2026. In June, the department's Support Services and Operations teams put three vehicles on the road: Safety 70, District 71 and District 72.

Spring Fire, operated by Harris County Emergency Services District No. 7, runs nine stations across 62 square miles of northern unincorporated Harris County. The department's coverage area includes portions of Interstate 45, the Hardy Toll Road and the Grand Parkway, along with roughly 47,000 homes in more than 100 subdivisions, according to the department's coverage-area page.

No cost figure for Tanker 74 has been released. HCESD 7 board meetings are open to the public and held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at 656 East Louetta Road.
