A woman is in critical condition after being intentionally struck by a vehicle on FM 1960 near the North Freeway on Tuesday, Aug. 4, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies responded to the 400 block of FM 1960 Tuesday morning and found the woman, who appeared to have been deliberately hit by an unknown driver, according to ABC13. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver fled the scene.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed the incident on X, writing that the woman appeared to have been intentionally struck by a vehicle driven by an unknown person and was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Gonzalez, who is serving his third term as Harris County's top law enforcement officer, tagged the official HCSO account in his post.
As of Tuesday afternoon, HCSO had not released a description of the suspect or the vehicle involved. The agency has not identified the victim, disclosed her age or named the hospital treating her.
The investigation remains active and developing. ABC13 described details as "limited," and no timeline for a follow-up briefing or press conference has been announced.

The 400 block of FM 1960 sits near the Interstate 45 interchange in the Spring area, a heavily trafficked commercial corridor patrolled by HCSO deputies. The stretch sees steady vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the day, particularly during morning commute hours when the incident occurred.
