A gourmet popcorn shop with more than 80 flavors has opened its doors on Cypresswood Drive, marking the first expansion for a business that got its start in Old Town Tomball eight years ago.
Craving Kernels began serving customers at 6925 Cypresswood Drive, Suite B, on Saturday, Aug. 15, general manager Julie Carranza confirmed to Community Impact. Owners Randy and Tracey Harmon opened the original location at 312 Market St. in Tomball in 2018.
The shop, which bills itself as an antique-style sweet shop, sells popcorn varieties ranging from Extra Buttery and Cheddar to Zebra Drizzle, all popped fresh and available in-store or online. Beyond popcorn, the Spring location carries homemade fudge and cookies, malt milkshakes, Hershey's ice cream, candy and what the shop calls "silly sodas." Specialty tins and custom popcorn bars are available for corporate gifting and weddings.
The Spring store carries the same products as the Tomball original but adds more seating, according to Community Impact.
The Harmons have said they were inspired to launch the business after visiting a popcorn store in Fredericksburg, Texas, while on vacation. In a profile published by the Tomball Economic Development Corporation, Randy Harmon described the concept as a fun, old-school candy store taken to the extreme. The EDC lists the Spring location as an official business expansion for the Tomball-based company.
It's the couple's first new storefront since 2018.
