Klein Collins rose to No. 15 in the VYPE Class 6A Top 25 after an upset-filled weekend reshuffled the Houston-area football landscape.

The Tigers are one of four Klein ISD and Conroe ISD programs in the poll, published Sunday, Sept. 27 by VYPE. Klein checked in at No. 22, Klein Cain debuted at No. 24, and Grand Oaks landed at No. 25.

Klein Collins (4-1) earned the jump after blowing out Klein Forest 49-0 on Friday, Sept. 25. Head coach Adrian Mitchell's squad piled up 300 rushing yards and 226 passing yards in the rout. The Tigers have won three straight since a Sept. 4 loss to Willis, outscoring opponents 157-52 in that stretch.

The climb has been steady. Klein Collins sat at No. 21 in VYPE's Week 2 poll on Sept. 9 and No. 17 in the Week 3 poll on Sept. 14.

Mitchell's program went 11-2 in 2025 and reached the regional semifinal but entered this fall returning only six starters, according to VYPE's preseason preview.

Klein Cain is the poll's newest Spring-area entry. The Hurricanes cracked the rankings after beating previously undefeated Tomball 55-38, according to VYPE. Junior quarterback Jace Hanks is averaging more than 200 passing yards per game with seven touchdowns and zero interceptions through the early season. Head coach James Clancy's squad won the District 15-6A title in 2024 and faces a challenging October stretch that includes Klein Collins, Klein High and Klein Oak.

Klein (No. 22) earned its spot after the Bearkats topped rival Klein Oak 37-20 on Sept. 22. Interim head coach David Perez's team went 6-5 in 2025, snapping a seven-year playoff drought. Senior quarterback Carter Latelle threw multiple touchdowns in the win over the Panthers.

The rankings shakeup was fueled by upsets across Greater Houston. Bridgeland knocked off No. 2 Cypress Ranch. Cypress Falls stunned No. 7 Cy-Fair on a last-second Hail Mary. College Park rallied past No. 5 Willis. Unranked Fulshear toppled No. 10 Waller.

Those losses opened doors for Klein-area teams to climb. North Shore held the No. 1 spot, followed by Katy and Ridge Point.

Klein Collins and Klein Cain will meet in a District 15-6A showdown in October.
