Cold Start Coffee, a motorcycle- and car-themed café, has opened at 18113 TC Jester Blvd., Ste. A, in Spring near Louetta Road.
The shop is already serving customers, with a grand opening celebration scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11, Community Impact Newspaper reported. The café is owned by married couple Stephanie Lopez and Oscar Lopez along with their friend and business partner Marshall Doreen.
Cold Start Coffee serves coffee, small bites and pastries. The owners plan to add beer and wine once they secure a license, according to Community Impact. A timeline for the license has not been announced.
Stephanie Lopez, a motorcycle enthusiast, told Community Impact the idea grew out of her involvement in the local biking community. She and Oscar Lopez decided to open a gathering spot for riders, car enthusiasts and anyone else looking for a place to connect.
"Whether you ride a motorcycle, drive a sports car, bring your family, meet a friend, stop in on your way to work or simply want a good cup of coffee, you are welcome here," Lopez told Community Impact.
In March, when Community Impact first previewed the business, Lopez described the motivation behind the shop. She told the outlet that many people in the biking community lack a regular gathering place and that she wanted to create a welcoming spot for them.
The café is pet friendly. The owners also plan to host regular events such as trivia nights and book club meetings, according to the March report.
The opening came several months behind schedule. Interior build-out began March 9, and the owners originally projected a late May or early June opening. As of Friday, Oct. 9, the business website at coldstartcoffeetx.com still displayed a "Coming Soon to Spring, TX" banner.
Lopez also owns Throttle and Therapy, a clothing brand focused on destigmatizing mental health conversations in the biking community, according to Community Impact.
Cold Start Coffee is located near the intersection of Louetta Road and TC Jester Boulevard. The shop's hours and menu are available at coldstartcoffeetx.com.
