The Spring Lions beat Aldine Nimitz at Planet Ford Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 22, picking up a needed district win as the regular season enters its final two weeks.

The final score is in dispute. CW39, SI.com and the Houston Chronicle each reported Spring 28, Aldine Nimitz 17, while MaxPreps recorded it as 27-17. The Lions won either way.

The victory moved Spring to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in district, according to MaxPreps. The Lions beat Eisenhower 29-20 on Oct. 8 but lost to MacArthur 31-23 in overtime on Oct. 15 before turning things around against Nimitz. Nimitz head coach Cornelius Harmon's squad entered the game looking for its sixth consecutive playoff berth, according to a Houston Chronicle preview published earlier this season.

Westfield stays perfect in district

Across town at Aldine ISD Thorne Stadium, Spring Westfield crushed Aldine 65-0 to extend its district winning streak to five games. The Mustangs have not lost a district game this season.

Westfield improved to 6-2 overall and 5-0 in district, according to MaxPreps. The Mustangs have outscored opponents 251-44 across eight games. Their only losses came in non-district play: 3-0 to Randle on Sept. 3 and 12-7 to Willis on Sept. 10.

Every one of Westfield's five district wins has been decided by at least 30 points.

Klein ISD's Bearkats also won big Thursday night. Klein defeated Magnolia West in a District 15-6A game. CW39, SI.com and the Houston Chronicle reported the final as 60-0, while MaxPreps recorded it as 60-7.
