A new independently owned coffee shop blending car culture, community events and mental-health advocacy will open its doors at 18311 TC Jester Blvd. in Spring on Oct. 4.

Cold Start Coffee, the first brick-and-mortar venture for co-founders Stephanie Lopez, Oscar Lopez and Marshall Doreen, will hold its grand opening from 3 to 8 p.m. that Sunday. The event will feature vendors, giveaways, a DJ and sim racing from SimTrack Racing, My Neighborhood News reported. Guests are encouraged to bring their cars and motorcycles.

The three founders are motorcycle enthusiasts who wanted a gathering spot that goes beyond a cup of coffee. The roughly 1,853-square-foot space sits inside TC Jester Plaza, near the TC Jester Boulevard and Louetta Road corridor. The privately funded tenant finish-out carried an estimated construction cost of $150,000, according to state records cited by My Neighborhood News.

Interior construction began in March 2026, but delays pushed the opening from a late-May target to October.

The café will serve coffee and small bites. A drive-thru will also be available for commuters and nearby residents. The shop is positioned as family-friendly and pet-friendly, not just a destination for gearheads.

Beyond the menu, the owners plan recurring community activities such as trivia nights and book clubs.

Stephanie Lopez is also the founder of Throttle and Therapy, a mental-health-focused clothing brand she created after the loss of her mother. The brand encourages conversations about grief, mental health and connection within the motorcycle community.

Lopez wrote on LinkedIn that the shop is "… inspired by car and motorcycle culture but at its core, it's about people."
