A 12-year-old Spring boy with autism was found safe on Saturday, Sept. 5, after a search that drew Harris County Precinct 4 deputies and community volunteers to the area near Woodbark Road.
Gavin Boker was reported missing around 7:30 a.m. after he was last seen near 17800 Woodbark Road, close to Champion Forest Drive and Louetta Road, according to KPRC 2. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office, led by Constable Mark Herman, coordinated the response.
Gavin has autism. The constable's office said his diagnosis raised concern for his safety and well-being, and deputies asked residents in the area to stay alert and report any sightings.
K9 Hades, a bloodhound with the constable's office, and Deputy Palacios joined the search. Community members also pitched in.
The search lasted roughly four and a half hours. By 12:05 p.m., authorities confirmed Gavin had been located safely and returned home. FOX 26 reported that authorities at the scene said the boy was in good health.
Precinct 4 officials told FOX 26 that Gavin had gone to an event without telling his caretaker. The constable's office did not identify the event or provide additional details about the circumstances.
The office thanked community members who assisted in the search. Authorities reported no criminal charges or further investigation.
The Champion Forest Drive and Louetta Road intersection sits in a residential stretch of Spring where single-family neighborhoods border commercial corridors. The area falls within Precinct 4's patrol zone in north Harris County.
