Honor Society Coffee Co. opened its first storefront on FM 2920 in Spring on Saturday, Oct. 24, giving the Spring-Klein area a new locally owned café with a drive-thru.
The opening was first reported by Community Impact. Owners John and Joni Shaw have lived in Klein for more than 15 years, according to the business's website. The couple expanded Honor Society from a catering coffee cart into a full brick-and-mortar shop.
The café serves espresso drinks, specialty lattes, frappes, teas, pastries and merchandise, according to Community Impact. Drip coffee starts at $3.75. Lattes run $5.50 and up. One standout on the specialty menu is the Salty Texan, a latte made with white chocolate, salted caramel, cinnamon and a dash of salt, starting at $6.95, according to the shop's online menu.
Other specialty offerings include the Bourbon Cowboy, a white chocolate and salted caramel latte topped with maple-bourbon caramel foam, and the Flannel Weather, made with salted caramel syrup, black walnut bitters, cinnamon and nutmeg. Specialty drinks range from about $5.75 to $7.85.
The shop also stocks locally sourced baked goods and Tejas Barbecue breakfast tacos, according to its website. Customers can order inside or pull through the drive-thru.
The Shaws bring backgrounds in restaurants, ministry and community work to the venture, according to the business's about page.
Community Impact reported that the coffee cart remains available for private event bookings. However, the business's own website lists the cart as "rebuilding" and currently closed. Whether cart bookings are being accepted is unclear.
The storefront is at 6820 FM 2920, Suite 100, and closes at 6 p.m., according to the business's website.
