All southbound lanes of Hwy. 249 in Spring will shut down at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, for bridge repairs at Compaq Center Drive.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) said in a Thursday, Oct. 1, news release that crews need to repair several damaged bridge beams on the Compaq Center Drive overpass. The closure runs through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5. Community Impact Newspaper first reported the announcement.

Southbound drivers will exit at the Chasewood Park/Cypresswood Drive ramp and re-enter the highway at the next entrance ramp past Compaq Center Drive. Northbound lanes will stay open, though TxDOT warned drivers to expect possible lane closures or delays in the area.

TxDOT did not say what caused the beam damage. The agency asked drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to use caution near the work zone and watch for crews and equipment.
