Klein Collins' A'Niyah Harmon was one of 15 players recognized at the inaugural H-Town Tip-off Luncheon as among the best high school basketball players in the Houston area.
The event, reported by ABC13, honored 15 of the best boys' and girls' players ahead of the upcoming season. University of Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson acknowledged all Houston-area men's and women's college coaches in attendance.
Harmon spoke about what makes Klein Collins stand out.
"We have great people, great coaches, and everything," Harmon said. "… I feel like Klein Collins is more family-oriented. We do a lot of things together."
The recognition comes with good timing. The girls' high school basketball season tips off Friday, Nov. 6, and Klein Collins opens that same night at C.E. King in Houston, according to the team's schedule on the Klein Collins athletics website. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Tigers then host Cy Creek on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Klein Collins Competition Gym in Spring at 7 p.m. The boys' season begins a week after the girls.
Klein Collins' early-season home slate also includes Caney Creek on Nov. 17, Fulshear on Nov. 20 and Tomball Memorial on Nov. 24. District play opens Jan. 2 when the Tigers host Klein at noon.
