Klein Collins High School in Spring is getting a $29 million renovation that will upgrade its auditorium, add a black box theater and build a new paved drive loop on campus.
The project at 20811 Ella Blvd. is funded through Klein Independent School District's $895.35 million 2022 Bond Program, which voters approved on May 7, 2022. A state filing dated Oct. 9 outlines the scope and timeline, as first reported by My Neighborhood News.
Construction is scheduled to begin May 3, 2027, and finish Aug. 31, 2028. Those dates are estimates.
What the project includes
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing describes interior renovations to the performing arts area, a raised flyloft roof above the stage to make room for scenery and production equipment, a new black box theater for smaller performances and rehearsals, and a new paved drive loop.
The drive loop is aimed at improving traffic flow and safety during daily pickup and drop-off. Klein ISD has not released design details for the loop or said how it will change campus access.
Planning history
The Klein ISD Board of Trustees agenda for Nov. 10, 2025, included consideration of project initiation. The June 8, 2026, board agenda listed consideration of a construction manager at risk. Both items appeared under the 2022 Bond Program. Available agenda records do not confirm the outcomes of those votes.
The Oct. 9 TDLR registration is the most recent public document on the project.
What's still pending
Klein ISD has not released a construction phasing schedule or said whether performances and school events will need to move during the 16-month build. The filing lists 759,800 square feet for the registered project but does not specify how much will be directly affected.
The drive loop's final design, including any changes to pickup and drop-off routes, also remains unpublished.
Construction is set to start May 3, 2027.
