Klein Collins football landed at No. 11 in VYPE Houston's Class 6A Top 25 released Monday, Aug. 31, giving the Spring program a top-12 slot heading into Week 2.

VYPE writer Matt Malatesta said the rankings reflect Week 1 results across the Houston area, though the outlet's list header still carries a "Preseason" label. C.E. King held the No. 1 spot, followed by North Shore and Shadow Creek. District 15-6A rival Tomball checked in at No. 8.

Head coach Adrian Mitchell's Tigers went 11-2 in 2025 and reached the Regional Semifinal round of the UIL playoffs. VYPE's preseason district preview, published Aug. 13, picked Klein Collins third in District 15-6A behind Tomball and Klein Oak.

The ranking is notable given how much the Tigers lost to graduation. Only six starters return from last year's squad.

Senior running back Tyce Hudson, a second-team all-district pick who rushed for 620 yards in 2025, leads the returning group on offense. Senior quarterback Brylon Jefferson takes over for District MVP Braydon Schoggin. Senior fullback Kannon Dartez and senior wide receiver Quincy Armstead round out the key returning skill players.

On defense, the Tigers bring back senior linebacker Aden Earl, senior defensive back Jonathan Colon and senior defensive lineman William Faye. Earl and Colon both earned second-team all-district honors last season.

District 15-6A shapes up as a grind. The nine-team league includes Tomball, Klein Oak, Klein, Magnolia, Klein Cain, Magnolia West, Tomball Memorial and Klein Forest. Tomball was projected first in the preseason, and the Cougars' No. 8 VYPE ranking backs that up.

Grand Oaks knocked off Klein Oak in Week 1, pushing the Grizzlies to No. 22 in the VYPE poll. Klein Oak, picked second in the district before the season, did not crack the Top 25.

Klein Collins' Week 1 opponent and score were not available in published reports. The Tigers' Week 2 opponent has not been confirmed in available sources.
