Klein Collins High School's production of "All Shook Up" won the Outstanding Scenic Design award at the 2026 Tommy Tune Awards in Houston.

Klein High School also won the Outstanding Orchestra award for its production of "Crazy for You." Both achievements were celebrated at the September Klein ISD Board of Trustees meeting, according to the district.

The Tommy Tune Awards, presented by Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS), evaluate full-length musicals produced by area high schools. Professional Houston-based music and theater artists judge more than 18 categories. The 2026 ceremony took place May 8 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

The scenic design award for Klein Collins went to students Samyukhtha Vidyaprakash and Ryan Cooke. Their production earned finalist nods in four additional categories: Outstanding Stage Management for Gage Watzinger, Lanessa Ancira and Callie Wagner; Outstanding Lighting Design for Lucas Cabrera and Ryan Cooke; Outstanding Projection Design for Travis Alexander and Ryan Cooke; and Outstanding Supporting Lead for Lacey Thomas in the role of Lorraine.

Klein High shared the Outstanding Orchestra honor with Kingwood High School, which won for its production of "The Sound of Music." The Klein High award was credited to Yajayra Soria.

The orchestra's win was no surprise to Klein High musical director Heather Garsen. She told The Bearchat, the school's student newspaper, in February that she had "high hopes for our orchestra, because they've won the past two years."

They made it three in a row.

Garsen also told The Bearchat that many cast members in "Crazy for You" learned tap dancing for the first time during the production, which ran Jan. 16 through Jan. 27 at Klein High.

Klein ISD Director of Fine Arts Frank Chuter, in the district's announcement, credited the wins to hours of collaboration and hard work by students and educators across both campuses.

The awards are named for Broadway legend and Houston native Tommy Tune, a Lamar High School alumnus who received 10 Tony Awards. The program has run for more than two decades across the greater Houston area.
