The Klein Farmers Market was set to hold its grand opening Saturday, Oct. 24, at Memorial Baptist Church in Spring, bringing a new recurring market for local produce, baked goods and handmade items to the Klein area.
Founder Jessica Wilcox, who also owns Spring small business Wander Stamped, confirmed the grand opening date to Community Impact, which first reported the market's plans on Sept. 30. The market is located at 22333 Kuykendahl Road, near Grand Parkway and across from Grand Parkway Marketplace.
Going forward, the market will run every first and third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wilcox said she created the market after noticing local vendors struggling to find a steady home at nearby markets. On the market's website, she described those markets as "oversaturated or extremely competitive." The Klein Farmers Market aims to give vendors who haven't found a consistent spot a reliable place to sell, as we reported Oct. 21.
Wilcox told Community Impact the goal is to "create a recurring community market where Klein-area families can shop locally, support small businesses and producers, and connect with their community."
Vendors include local farmers, ranchers, food producers, bakers, artisans, makers and small businesses, Wilcox said. The market's Facebook page also lists food trucks among its vendor categories.
Vendor applications remain open. Residents interested in selling or sponsoring can find details on the market's website.
Upcoming Klein Farmers Market dates: Saturday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 22333 Kuykendahl Road, Spring.
