The Klein Farmers Market did not open as planned on Oct. 24 after organizers postponed the grand opening.
Market officials announced the delay in an Oct. 13 Facebook post, Community Impact reported. The post cited "unexpected challenges" but did not specify what went wrong. No new opening date has been set.
"Unfortunately, after carefully evaluating some unexpected challenges, we've made the difficult decision to put our plans on hold for now," the Facebook post read, according to Community Impact.
The post also noted months of preparation. Organizers wrote that they had "poured so much time, energy, and love" into building a gathering place for local farmers, small businesses and families.
Organizers did not detail the nature of those challenges. Officials said they are hopeful to revisit plans, though no specific timeline was given.
Founder Jessica Wilcox had confirmed the Oct. 24 date in a statement reported by Community Impact in September. The market was set to operate on the first and third Saturdays each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It would have featured local farmers, ranchers, food producers, bakers, artisans and small businesses, Wilcox said.
Wilcox had described the goal as creating "a recurring community market where Klein-area families can shop locally, support small businesses and producers, and connect with their community."
Residents can follow the Klein Farmers Market's Facebook page for updates on future plans.
