A new farmers market is coming to the Spring-Klein area, with its grand opening set for Saturday, Oct. 24, at Memorial Baptist Church on Kuykendahl Road.
Jessica Wilcox, founder of the Klein Farmers Market and owner of Wander Stamped, a Spring small business, confirmed the opening date to Community Impact reporter Kennedy Thomason, first reported Sept. 30. After the grand opening, the market will run every first and third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The market will be held at 22333 Kuykendahl Road, Spring.
Wilcox said she created the market after noticing local vendors struggling to find a steady home at nearby markets. On the market's website, she described those markets as "oversaturated or extremely competitive." The Klein Farmers Market aims to give vendors who haven't found a consistent spot a reliable place to sell.
Wilcox told Community Impact the goal is to "create a recurring community market where Klein-area families can shop locally, support small businesses and producers, and connect with their community."
Vendors will include local farmers, ranchers, food producers, bakers, artisans, makers and small businesses, according to Wilcox.
Early arrivals on opening day can pick up limited-edition reusable tote bags stuffed with coupons, samples and special offers from local businesses.
The market's website at kleinfarmersmarket.square.site lists sections for vendor applications, sponsorship opportunities, special events and community photos. Residents interested in selling or sponsoring can find details there.
After the grand opening, the next regularly scheduled market days would fall on the first and third Saturdays of November, based on the stated recurring schedule.
