Klein ISD sets fall theatre lineup at four high schools

Four Klein ISD high schools will stage fall theatre productions across three weekends in September, with shows running Sept. 10–26.

The district announced the lineup Friday, Aug. 28, listing performances at Klein High School, Klein Oak High School, Klein Collins High School and Klein Cain High School. All evening shows start at 7 p.m., and tickets are available through the district's website.

Klein Forest is sitting out. The district cited ongoing construction, and Klein ISD Board of Trustees minutes from June show the board unanimously approved a change order for the Klein Forest Additions and Renovations Project under the 2022 bond program.

The shows

Klein High School — "Mama Won't Fly" Sept. 10–12 and Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.

Four performances open the fall season, with a gap on Sunday before a Monday night show.

Klein Oak High School — "Anatomy of Gray" Sept. 17–18 at 7 p.m.; Sept. 19 at 2 p.m.

Three performances over one weekend, including a Saturday matinee.

Klein Collins High School — "Witches!? In Salem?!" Sept. 17–18 and Sept. 24–26 at 7 p.m.; Sept. 19 at 2 p.m.

Klein Collins has the most dates on the schedule: six performances spread across two weekends, with a Saturday matinee on Sept. 19.

Klein Cain High School — "The Total Tragedy of Jules Cesar (A Retelling of Shakespeare's Classic)" Sept. 24–26 at 7 p.m.

Three evening shows close out the fall run.

Strong arts tradition

The district was named one of the 2026 Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. Frank Chuter, the district's director of fine arts, noted at the May 11 board meeting that it was the 15th consecutive year and 19th time overall Klein ISD earned the recognition.

Klein High musical director Heather Garsen captured the energy behind the district's theatre programs in a February Bear Chat feature about that school's spring production of "Crazy For You."

"It's always really rewarding to hear the feedback from the audience and see how the audience reacts on that opening night, when everybody's seeing it for the first time," Garsen said at the time.
