A woman convicted of threatening to burn down a Klein ISD elementary school received a $50,000 bond in Harris County on Aug. 14.

Veronica Kiana Jones, 31, was granted the bond by the 339th Criminal District Court on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to FOX 26 Houston. At the time, she was out on bond in multiple other states, including Florida, Illinois and Virginia, the station reported.

Jones has six felony convictions dating back to 2010. She has never served prison time.

Andy Kahan, director of victim services and advocacy at Crime Stoppers of Houston, told FOX 26 that San Patricio County issued a warrant for Jones's arrest on Aug. 11. That was three days before she appeared in the 339th Court and was granted bond.

"She was a wanted fugitive. … She was also out on bond in multiple other states, including Florida, Illinois and Virginia," Kahan said.

Jones's 2022 conviction ties her case directly to the Spring and Klein community. She threatened to set a Klein ISD elementary school on fire, posted threats on her Instagram page, and threatened to kidnap a 4-year-old child. Klein ISD placed the school on lockdown. Jones was convicted of terroristic threat and received six days in county jail.

Her criminal record includes both violent and nonviolent offenses. FOX 26 reported the case as part of reporter Randy Wallace's ongoing "Breaking Bond" series, which documents instances of suspects allegedly committing new crimes while out on bond for felony charges.

The nature of the current aggravated assault charge, including the alleged victim and circumstances, has not been publicly detailed.

Jones's next scheduled court appearance in Harris County is Tuesday, Sept. 1.
