Klein Oak's volleyball team sits at 30-3 and holds the No. 2 spot in VYPE Houston's 6A rankings, released Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The Panthers opened District 15-6A play at 3-0, up from the No. 17 preseason ranking VYPE gave them in August. Head coach Bill Jenkins' squad went 36-13 in 2025 and reached the Bi-District round of the UIL playoffs. The 2026 roster has turned that foundation into one of the Houston area's best records.

Klein Oak earned VYPE's Whataburger Team of the Week honor after racing to a 21-2 start during the preseason tournament slate. The Panthers knocked off Cypress Ranch, A&M Consolidated and North Forney along the way. Players named in VYPE's coverage of the run include Ava Edmonds, Lily Singletary, Lillie French, Camille Csernik and Amiya Bryant.

VYPE contributor Matthew Ogle wrote that Klein Oak and Memorial "have skyrocketed in the state rankings, emerging from the fall tournament stage as legitimate contenders wielding ridiculously balanced starting rotations."

Only Tomball High School ranks ahead of Klein Oak. The Cougars, coached by Jordan Williams, sit at 20-4 overall and 3-0 in district.

Both teams play in District 15-6A, a nine-team league that also includes Klein, Klein Cain, Klein Collins, Klein Forest, Magnolia, Magnolia West and Tomball Memorial, according to the Houston Chronicle's UIL realignment report. That shared district means the top two 6A teams in the Houston area will meet at least twice during the regular season.

Ogle called the matchups "all the more enticing" given the dominance Tomball has shown early in the year.

Rounding out the VYPE top five: Tompkins at No. 3 (17-5, 3-0 in District 22-6A), Cypress Ranch at No. 4 (20-7) and Memorial at No. 5 (24-3, 3-0 in District 20-6A).

Klein Oak and Tomball will face each other in District 15-6A play, with both teams chasing an unbeaten district run.
