Klein Oak's volleyball team sits at 35-4 overall and 8-1 in District 15-6A, holding the No. 2 spot in the VYPE Houston 6A rankings released Sept. 28.
The Panthers trail only Tomball, which holds the top spot at 24-6 overall and 7-2 in district. Klein Oak's lone district loss came Sept. 15, when Tomball won a five-set match, 3-2.
Klein Oak has held the No. 2 ranking since at least Sept. 8, when the team stood at 30-3 and 3-0 in district play. Head coach Bill Jenkins' squad beat Cypress Ranch, A&M Consolidated, North Forney, New Braunfels, Lake Creek and Montgomery during the tournament stretch before district began.
Senior outside hitter Camille Csernik, a Miami commit, leads the Klein Oak attack. Csernik began as a competitive dancer for about eight years before moving to Texas and picking up volleyball at age 12, starting as a middle blocker before switching to outside hitter. She earned District 15-6A Hitter of the Year honors last season after surpassing 600 kills and was approaching 250 kills this season as of late August, according to a VYPE feature published Aug. 25.
"Our main goal starts with battling for a district championship," Csernik said in a July VYPE profile before the 2026 season. "We came close last year, so we're definitely aiming to finish first this time around."
Klein Oak finished 36-13 last season, second in District 15-6A behind Tomball, before a first-round playoff loss to Bridgeland.
The depth shows in the stat sheet. Senior setter Lily Singletary had 316 assists and freshman setter Lillie French had 223 assists as of late August. Sophomore libero Ava Edmonds led the team in digs (227) and serve receptions (295) at that point.
Three District 15-6A teams appear in the VYPE Houston top 20: Tomball at No. 1, Klein Oak at No. 2 and Tomball Memorial at No. 13 with a 22-12 record and 7-2 district mark.
The rematch that could decide the district title is set for Friday, Oct. 16, when Klein Oak hosts Tomball, according to VYPE Houston.
