Two pumpkin patches in Spring are open through Oct. 31, giving families a pair of close-to-home options for hayrides, corn mazes and picking pumpkins.
Faith United Methodist Church's patch at 2403 Rayford Road opened Monday, Sept. 28, and runs through Oct. 31. Hours through Thursday, Oct. 8, are noon to dusk daily. Starting Friday, Oct. 9, the patch opens earlier at 9:30 a.m. and stays open until dusk every day.
The church plans a bigger draw on Saturday, Oct. 17. Its annual Pumpkin Fest runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day, with arts and crafts vendors, food booths, a bake sale and children's games, according to the church's event page. No admission price for the patch or the festival appears in the church's listings.
Over on Spring Cypress Road, Old Time Christmas Tree Farm opens its pumpkin patch Thursday, Oct. 1. The 75-acre farm at 7632 Spring Cypress Road is open Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Oct. 31.
Admission is $10 per person for ages 2 and up, paid at the gate with no reservation needed. Once inside, visitors can browse pumpkins sourced from North Texas family farms. Varieties include jack-o'-lanterns, pie pumpkins and minis.
Eight separate attractions carry their own tickets at $3 each or 10 for $27. The lineup includes a train ride around the 75-acre farm, a hayride, a one-acre corn maze, a petting zoo and children's inflatables. More than 40 acres are planted in pine and cypress trees. Carnival-style food vendors sell corn dogs, funnel cakes and fried Oreos, according to the farm's website.
Owners Damian and Leia Prause have run the farm since 1996. The land has been in Leia Prause's family for more than a century. Her grandfather, Milton Kleb, raised peanuts, cotton and hay on the same acreage.
A Hello Woodlands guide lists 11 pumpkin patches across the greater Woodlands and North Houston area. Faith United Methodist Church and Old Time Christmas Tree Farm are the two located within Spring.
