Lakewood Church donated school supplies to Major Elementary School, giving students in the Spring ISD campus's All-Stars program a boost before the Wednesday, August 12, first day of school.
Spring ISD announced the donation on its official X account Thursday, July 30, thanking the Houston megachurch for helping the school's All-Stars head into the new year prepared.
The gift is part of Lakewood Church's broader 2026 Back-to-School Drive, which launched June 1 and runs through Tuesday, August 18. The drive collects supplies for Title I schools across the Houston area. Title I campuses serve high percentages of students from low-income families. Lakewood said on Instagram that donations can be dropped off at collection bins inside the church and that every contribution helps equip students and teachers for a successful year.
Major Elementary is led by Principal Ursula Gordon-Higginbotham, a 28-year education veteran who joined the campus in 2022.
The district did not specify how many items were donated or how many students will benefit. Details matter here. A video posted with the announcement was not accessible for further review.
