The Legacy School of Sport Sciences gave up 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter and overtime Saturday, Sept. 5, falling 34-28 to St. Charles Catholic at Thomas Dupuy Stadium in LaPlace, Louisiana.
The Titans led 28-13 entering the final period. They left 0-2.
Spring's Legacy School looked sharp early. Quarterback Andre Salazar hit receiver Michael Edwards on a 15-yard touchdown pass, and running back Julian Shepard broke an 88-yard scoring run to stake the Titans to a 14-0 first-quarter lead, according to Crescent City Sports.
St. Charles Catholic, the defending Louisiana Division II Select state champion, answered before halftime. Running back Evan Duffour capped a 10-play, 65-yard drive with a 5-yard scoring run, then finished a 12-play march with a 6-yard touchdown to pull the Comets within 14-13. Legacy's Eli Kelly scooped a Duffour fumble and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown, sending the Titans into the break up 21-13.
Salazar stretched the lead to 28-13 in the second half with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Kameron Ballard.
Then the game turned.
Comets quarterback Landree LeBlanc punched in a 1-yard sneak to cap a 52-yard, 11-play drive. Drew Aucoin sacked Legacy quarterback Terrilous Wood in the end zone for a safety. Duffour then broke free up the middle on a 55-yard run to tie the game 28-28 with 3:29 on the clock.
In overtime, Legacy got the ball first. St. Charles Catholic's Tyler Bovia recorded a sack that cost the Titans 17 yards, and they failed to score. Duffour ended it on the first play of the Comets' possession, scoring on a 10-yard run.
Sixteen penalties for 112 yards buried the Titans. St. Charles Catholic outgained Legacy 428-270 in total yards.
Duffour finished with 22 carries for 169 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught eight passes for 100 yards. LeBlanc rushed 20 times for 124 yards and completed 12 of 18 passes for 127 yards.
Salazar went 9 of 16 for 138 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Shepard carried 11 times for 88 yards and caught four passes for 26 yards.
Comets head coach Wayne Stein said his team dug an early hole but credited the fourth-quarter response.
"Our defense got stops, gave us a safety and our offense picked it up," Stein said. "We dominated in the fourth quarter and the rest of the way."
It was the second straight year the teams played a thriller. St. Charles Catholic also beat Legacy 35-31 last season, scoring in the final minute.
Legacy opened the 2026 season with a 21-19 loss to Celina. The Titans are scheduled to travel to Carthage for Week 3.
