Fall classes at Lone Star College–North Harris start Aug. 24, and the campus is urging Spring-area students to register and meet with an advisor now while seats remain open.
The campus, located at 2700 W.W. Thorne Drive, issued its enrollment call Wednesday, Aug. 5, noting that advisors are available to help first-time students, transfers and returning students build a personalized academic plan. With Spring ISD and Klein ISD students heading back to class Wednesday, Aug. 12, families weighing community college options have a narrow window to lock in fall schedules.
What's available
LSC–North Harris offers associate degrees, university transfer pathways, workforce certificates and continuing education programs. Most courses transfer to four-year universities, according to the college. The campus also houses applied technology programs in fields like diesel mechanics.
The system as a whole offers five bachelor's degree programs, dual-credit pathways and workforce certifications across its campuses.
The cost
In-district tuition for 2026-27 remains $111 per credit hour after the Lone Star College System Board of Trustees voted unanimously on April 2 to hold rates steady for a second consecutive year. A full-time semester of 12 credit hours runs $1,332, according to the college's tuition page. For comparison, the same load costs $7,878 at UT-Austin, $6,237 at Texas A&M and $5,559 at the University of Houston.
Trustee Daniel Meza said during the April 2 meeting that while keeping tuition flat "is a great thing," he'd like the board to "start looking at ways to lower tuition, even a small amount," Community Impact reported.
About 31.3% of Lone Star College students receive financial aid, and payment plans are available.
Enrollment momentum
The numbers tell the story. Lone Star College System enrolled a record 97,221 students in spring 2026, a 6.4% jump from spring 2025. The system retained nearly 80% of its fall students into spring. In fall 2025, enrollment hit 97,294, up 5.9% year over year.
Jeramie Thomas, an LSC–North Harris business administration and political science student, captured what that access means in March when the college announced he was a Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship semifinalist: "I'm a lower-income student raised by a single mother … This is something that I once thought was not achievable for someone like me … I am very much only capable of doing this because of the opportunities I was given at Lone Star College System."
Thomas is an Honors College member and Distinguished Global Scholar with multiple four-year university acceptances.

Students can enroll online at LoneStar.edu/LearnMore or schedule an in-person appointment with an LSC–North Harris advisor. Campus advising hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
