Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a man Thursday, Aug. 27, after finding a 16-year-old runaway allegedly being trafficked at a motel along the North Freeway in the Spring area.

Danterius Reed, 23, was charged with Promotion of Prostitution and booked into the Harris County Jail, according to a post on the sheriff's Facebook page.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced the arrest on X on Friday, Aug. 28. Deputies responded to a motel in the 17100 block of North Freeway, where they located the teen, who had been reported as a runaway, Gonzalez said. Investigators determined she was being trafficked.

The sheriff's office did not name the motel. Reed's date of birth is Oct. 16, 2002, according to the sheriff's post.

The charge, Promotion of Prostitution, is a felony under Texas law. It does not require proof that Reed personally committed an act of prostitution, only that he knowingly promoted or profited from it. The case remains in its early stages, and no bond amount or court date has been made public.


The arrest follows the identification of another Spring-area trafficking victim. The Texas Attorney General's Office announced July 28 that partial human remains found in Missouri City had been identified as those of Kristen Galvan, a 15-year-old who was reported missing from Spring in January 2020 after becoming a victim of sex trafficking, according to ABC13.

That homicide investigation was ongoing as of a July 30 ABC13 report. The two cases involve different suspects and different agencies.
