A vehicle struck a 2-year-old child Saturday, Oct. 17, at Shadow Ridge Apartments on Old Walters Road in northwest Harris County, KHOU reported, citing Constable Mark Herman's Precinct 4 office.

Paramedics transported the child to a local hospital. The constable's office did not provide an update on the child's condition.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, Precinct 4 said.

No details have been released.

Harris County Constable Precinct 4 said in a post on X that deputies are investigating an auto-pedestrian crash involving the toddler in the 12200 block of Old Walters Road. The complex sits near Veterans Memorial Drive and Spears Road, according to Fox 26. That intersection places the crash in the northwest Harris County area patrolled by Precinct 4.

The constable's office has not said how the child came to be in the vehicle's path or whether the driver could face charges. The investigation remains open.

The crash is the second time in less than a week that a vehicle has struck a child in the broader Spring and northwest Harris County area. On Oct. 13, a 6-year-old boy was seriously injured in an auto-pedestrian crash on Peachstone Place in the Forest North subdivision in Spring, according to CW39. That child was first taken to a hospital and then airlifted to a second facility for further care. No charges had been filed in that case, CW39 reported.
