A 6-year-old boy was airlifted to a trauma center after being struck by a vehicle in a Spring-area neighborhood Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. in the 2900 block of Peachstone Place, near Orchard Dale Drive and the Grand Parkway, as first reported by KHOU. Deputies with Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to the scene.

KHOU reported the vehicle belonged to a family member. The station described the boy as "fighting for his life."

The boy was taken to a local hospital for initial treatment, then airlifted by Life Flight to a second hospital for further care, according to the constable's office. The agency described the incident as an auto-pedestrian crash in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon.

The full extent of the child's injuries had not been officially released as of Tuesday evening.

Peachstone Place sits in a residential neighborhood just south of State Highway 99, between Orchard Dale Drive and Ribbon Creek Way, according to Fox 26 Houston. The area is a cluster of single-family homes with cul-de-sacs and low speed limits typical of subdivisions near the Grand Parkway corridor.

How the boy ended up in the path of the vehicle has not been disclosed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Precinct 4 deputies. No charges had been announced as of Tuesday evening.

The Houston Chronicle also confirmed the location as the 2900 block of Peachstone Place, citing an agency social media post.
