Spring Fire Department firefighters helped the Fire team defeat Police 7-6 in the inaugural Women's Battle of the Badge at Shell Energy Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 18.
The charity soccer match followed the Houston Dash's Breast Cancer Awareness game against the Orlando Pride, the Spring Fire Department said on X. Firefighters from Community, Cy-Fair, Little York, La Porte and Spring suited up for the Fire side.
The match featured 25-minute halves and a 10-minute halftime break, according to the Houston Dash. The Dash promoted the event as the inaugural Women's Battle of the Badge.
Police officers played to support the Houston Police Family Support Unit. Firefighters represented the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association, International Association of Fire Fighters Local 341.
Fire won by one.
