Spring ISD is asking students, families, staff and community members to nominate people for its Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight feature by Monday, Sept. 14.
The district wants to highlight students, teachers, staff and community members whose stories and contributions stand out during Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. Selected nominees may be featured on Spring ISD's social media channels, the district announced Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Nominations can be submitted through an online form.
The celebration carries particular weight in a district where more than half the students are Hispanic. The most recent state enrollment data, compiled by the Texas Tribune, shows Spring ISD's student population is 54.1% Hispanic across 42 campuses and 32,349 students.
Superintendent Kregg Cuellar said the district's diversity shapes its classrooms.
"Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of our Hispanic community, honor the pride they bring to our schools and ensure every student knows their heritage and that their story matters," Cuellar said in the announcement.
Spring ISD is also encouraging community members to share photos from campus celebrations on social media using the hashtag #CelebremosSpring, tagging the district on Facebook, Instagram and X.
