Champion Fiberglass has purchased 58 acres in north Houston to expand production and launch new products in 2027.
The land sits about 15 minutes from the company's headquarters at 6400 Spring Stuebner Road, Electrical Wholesaling reported. Company leaders said the acquisition will let Champion boost production, improve customer service and begin rolling out new product lines next year.
The deal marks the latest growth move for the Spring manufacturer, which makes fiberglass conduit and strut used in utilities, roads, bridges and water treatment. Champion operates 200,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space and employs 245 people, according to an April 29 company press release.
Founder and Executive Chairman Goran Haag started the company in 1988. Production has quadrupled under his leadership.
Champion doubled its capacity in 2020 with a new manufacturing line that was running at full capacity within a year. The manufacturing floor added a fourth production line in April and a fifth was expected to come online in summer 2026, according to a company article published June 23.
"The total electrical conduit market is $7 or $8 billion strong," Haag said in that June article. "Champion Fiberglass has not even scratched the surface of the opportunity there."
Haag also said in June it is realistic the company could grow to be a half-billion-dollar operation in his lifetime.
The expansion comes during a stretch of recognition for the company. Haag was named a finalist for the Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 Gulf South Award by Ernst & Young in April. Champion also received the 2026 NEMMY Award at the NEMRA Annual Conference on Feb. 10.
No groundbreaking date or construction timeline for the 58-acre site has been announced. The 2027 target for new products is the only forward-looking milestone disclosed so far.
