Harris County Municipal Utility District 127 (HCMUD 127) opens its new community center Saturday, Sept. 26, at 18880 Gummert Road in Spring.

The district announced the grand opening celebration on its website Sept. 21. No start time or schedule of activities has been published.

The 1,700-square-foot, single-story building sits next to the district's water plant. A covered wraparound breezeway on three sides adds overflow gathering space, bringing the usable footprint to roughly 3,000 square feet, according to the district.

Inside, the center holds a large assembly area, two small offices and a kitchenette with catering space.

The district said the center will host official public meetings, town halls and community events such as "Spring on Tap." It will also offer educational classes in first aid, ESL, economic literacy and native plant gardening, and serve as an onsite emergency operations site.

The community center page is published in both English and Spanish.

Construction began in November 2024, according to the district's project page.

HCMUD 127 was established in 1975 and covers 519 acres in northwest Harris County. Its boundaries run roughly east to Barker-Cypress Road, west to Greenhouse Road, south to Gummert Road and Bear Creek, and north to just south of West Little York. The district serves six subdivisions: Brenwood Park, Brenwood II (including Brenwood Trails), Brenwood Village, Brenwood Circle, Brenwood Manor and Adelaide. As of July 2021, the district's most recently published count, approximately 2,625 homes and six commercial establishments fall within its boundaries.

Parking at the center holds 20 vehicles. Overflow parking is available on the west side of the water plant. For larger events, the district has received permission to use a pipeline right-of-way on the north side of the building.
