A 100-voice choral ensemble with roots in the Spring area for four decades is settling into a new home this fall. Texas Master Chorale will perform all three concerts of its 2026-2027 "Spirit and Song" season at The Centrum at Cypress Creek Christian Community Center, 6823 Cypresswood Drive in Spring, the group announced this week.

The move gives the nonprofit group, founded in 1986 and led by founder and artistic director Brad Bouley, access to an 877-seat concert hall equipped with a Steinway 9-foot concert grand piano, a four-manual electronic organ and a sound system upgraded after Hurricane Harvey flooding forced a full renovation completed in 2021.

Season tickets cost $30 and are on sale now. Students get in free to every concert with a valid school ID.

Three concerts, three styles

The season opens Saturday, Oct. 24, with "Ye Shall Have a Song," featuring Robert Ray's "Gospel Mass," a work blending sacred liturgy with African American gospel rhythms, alongside selections from Randall Thompson's "The Peaceable Kingdom."

On Saturday, Dec. 19, the holiday concert "A Season of Wonder" pairs traditional Christmas carols with a multigenerational twist: students from the Tomball High School Chorale will join the ensemble onstage.

The season finale, "Triumph and Peace," arrives Saturday, April 3, 2027, with Leonard Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms" sung in Hebrew and Joseph Haydn's "Lord Nelson Mass," written in 1798.

Auditions Aug. 9-10

Experienced singers interested in joining the chorale can audition Sunday, Aug. 9, or Monday, Aug. 10, at Northwoods Presbyterian Church, 3320 Cypress Creek Parkway in Houston. Appointments and audition music are available at TexasMasterChorale.org.

Bouley retired in 2015 as director of fine arts for Tomball ISD and has led the ensemble through 41 seasons. The chorale is sponsored by the Texas Commission on the Arts and serves concertgoers across Spring, Klein, Champions, Cypress, Tomball and surrounding Northwest Houston communities.

The lineup opens Saturday, Oct. 10, with The Texas Tenors and continues with Forever Motown Christmas (Saturday, Nov. 28), Lovin' Spoonful (Thursday, Dec. 31), Take 6 (Saturday, Jan. 23, 2027), Asleep at the Wheel (Saturday, Feb. 20, 2027) and 10,000 Maniacs (Saturday, May 8, 2027).
