A padel-only sports club opened in Spring in August 2026, adding a new racket sport option to the area.

Wakit Rakit, which launched its first location on Florida's Space Coast earlier in the summer, opened its second facility at 510 Hassler Rd., Community Impact reported. The club features four lit outdoor courts, with room on site to expand to 11, according to Padel Courts Finder.

Padel is a doubles racket sport played on enclosed courts smaller than a tennis court. The International Padel Federation estimates more than 35 million people play across 150 countries.

"The whole Houston area is about to discover this sport, and Spring is early," Wakit Rakit CEO Ryan Higgins said.

The Spring club's programming leans beginner-friendly. Intro to Padel classes require no experience or equipment, and loaner rackets are provided. The schedule also includes Padel & Pints social nights, open plays, leagues, tournaments, junior programs and private lessons with club coaches. A pro shop on site stocks rackets and gear, according to Padel Courts Finder.

Courts are open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Bookings and class registration are available online at wakitrakit.com/spring. The phone number is 832-304-4418.

Padel has been surging across the country. U.S. player participation grew 250% since 2022, according to the 2026 Playtomic Global Padel Report cited by Skull Padel. That report categorized the U.S. as a "diamond in the rough," a market early in development but carrying long-term potential. Texas ranks second in the nation for padel courts with roughly 120, behind Florida's approximately 268.

Nationwide, 250 padel clubs and 330 courts were added in 2025 alone, according to Sports Business Journal. The Playtomic report, produced with Strategy& at PwC, counted 19.4 million padel players worldwide and more than 58,000 courts globally.

Through its sister company Wakit Padel, the group also supplies and finances padel courts for other clubs and facilities nationwide, according to Community Impact.

The nearest other padel facility is Lobb's Padel & Coffee, a five-court indoor club that opened separately in August in The Woodlands on FM 1488. Wakit Rakit's Spring site has capacity for up to 11 courts at full buildout.
