The Walmart Supercenter at 2901 Riley Fuzzel Road in Spring is slated to get company-operated electric vehicle fast-charging stations, one of six Greater Houston locations the retailer has tagged as "coming soon" for its expanding charging network.
The Spring store, Supercenter #3585, sits near the Grand Parkway and I-45 corridor. Walmart's chargers deliver up to 400 kilowatts of DC fast-charging power and support both CCS and NACS connectors, covering Teslas and virtually every other EV on the road, according to Walmart's EV charging page.
Walmart says the stations can add significant range during a typical 20- to 30-minute shopping trip, though actual speed depends on the vehicle, battery temperature, and state of charge.
Construction timeline unclear for Spring
A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing titled "Walmart South Texas EV's—Batch #5" lists an estimated construction cost of $20 million and a construction window of Nov. 21, 2026, through Jan. 4, 2027, according to My Neighborhood News. That filing covers multiple unnamed South Texas locations, not the Spring store alone, and Walmart has not published a location-by-location construction schedule.
No opening date has been set for the Spring station specifically.
A separate TDLR filing, "Batch #4 Walmart EV's," registered June 16, 2026, covers Houston-area and San Antonio locations at an estimated $29.6 million, with Kimley-Horn & Associates listed as the design firm. Walmart has not confirmed which batch includes the Spring store.
What drivers get
Shoppers will be able to use the Walmart app to locate the station, check charger availability, start a session, and pay. Walmart+ members receive a charging discount at company-owned stations when sessions are initiated through the app.
The other five Greater Houston stores on the "coming soon" list are in Houston (3506 Highway 6 S.), Katy (6060 N. Fry Road), Missouri City (5501 Highway 6), and two Pearland locations (1919 N. Main St. and 1710 Broadway St.).
Walmart's national network expanding
As of April 2026, Walmart's own branded charging network included 19 locations across five states with 82 chargers and 164 ports, according to the company's FY2026 ESG Report. Independent tracking estimated the network had grown to 73 sites and 612 stalls nationwide by the end of June 2026.
"We've got a Walmart store or Sam's Club within 10 miles of 90 percent of the population in this country. We know we can address range anxiety in a way that no one else can," Vishal Kapadia, Walmart's senior vice president of energy transformation, said in April 2023 when the company announced its goal of building chargers at thousands of locations by 2030.
The TDLR filings suggest construction across the South Texas batch could begin as early as Nov. 21, 2026.
