A woman's car plunged into a Spring retention pond just after midnight Tuesday, Sept. 29. Deputies, firefighters and a wrecker driver pulled the vehicle out with her still inside, and she was not injured.
The driver was heading to work along Northcrest Drive near the Grand Parkway when she missed a curve and her vehicle entered the pond, FOX 26 Houston reported, citing Captain Michael Abercia of Constable Mark Herman's Office.
Rescuers secured the car and extracted it from the water before the woman got out. Abercia said she was okay.
Abercia's office had not confirmed what caused the crash as of Tuesday.
The rescue site sits in the same general area where a fatal crash occurred Aug. 2. In that incident, 51-year-old Joseph Mariano's SUV left the 6000 block of North Grand Parkway West and entered a retention pond near an Amazon facility, ABC13 reported.
First responders performed CPR on Mariano, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital. HCSO Sgt. Beau Beaty, speaking at the scene on Aug. 2, said the vehicle "went airborne into the retention pond near the Amazon facility here."
The two crashes happened on different roads but in the same vicinity near the Grand Parkway and Northcrest Drive.
