Building sprinklers helped knock down a balcony fire at the Park45 apartment complex on Monday, Aug. 17, before flames could spread to the unit above, the Spring Fire Department said.

No one was injured.

Firefighters responded to the complex near I-45 and Louetta Road on Monday afternoon and confirmed the fire did not extend into the apartment directly above the balcony where it started, according to the department's post on X. The department described sprinklers as helping to extinguish the blaze.

Park45 sits at 20330 Whitewood Drive in Spring, a one- and two-bedroom apartment community with easy access to the I-45 corridor.

The department did not release a cause of the fire, the number of units affected or whether any residents were displaced. The Spring Fire Department has not responded to a request for additional details.

The incident is one example of how building sprinkler systems can limit fire damage in multi-family housing along Spring's densely developed I-45 corridor, where apartment communities house thousands of residents. Spring Fire Department serves roughly 165,000 people across 62 square miles of unincorporated North Harris County and operates nine stations.

Anyone with information about the fire can contact the Spring Fire Department through its non-emergency line.
