Constable Mark Herman's office has stationed deputies along a four-block stretch of Briarcreek Boulevard in the Memorial Hills subdivision, launching a traffic enforcement initiative three days before Spring ISD and Klein ISD students return to class.
The patrol targets the 1800–2200 blocks of Briarcreek Boulevard, according to a Precinct 4 announcement on X posted Sunday, Aug. 9. The office did not specify which violations deputies are targeting or how long the initiative will last.
Classes start Wednesday.
Both Spring ISD and Klein ISD begin the 2026–27 school year on Aug. 12, according to KPRC 2.
The Memorial Hills deployment is the latest in a string of speed-enforcement actions by Precinct 4 this summer. The office participated in TxDOT's statewide "Operation Slow Down" campaign, which ran July 18 through Aug. 2, and announced on Aug. 5 that deputies would continue writing speeding tickets after the campaign ended.
Broader school-year push
The Briarcreek patrol also follows a broader school-safety coordination Herman announced Aug. 5. His office met with police leaders from Spring ISD, Klein ISD, Cy-Fair ISD, Humble ISD, Tomball ISD and Aldine ISD to plan the deployment of hundreds of deputy constables to campuses and nearby areas, CW39 reported. Deputies will also conduct checks at private schools and daycare centers within their patrol areas.
"The safety of our children is everyone's main concern and priority," Herman said at the Aug. 5 meeting with district police leaders, as CW39 reported. "Together, as in years past, law enforcement will work together to attain this goal."
The office has not said whether the Memorial Hills initiative is a direct response to resident complaints or crash history on Briarcreek Boulevard, or whether similar neighborhood-level patrols are planned elsewhere in the precinct.
