Young entrepreneurs ages 5 to 17 will set up shop outdoors, farmers-market style, selling handmade jewelry, dried flowers, artwork, sweets and interactive games at the Children's Entrepreneur Market on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Lone Star Convention Center in Conroe.
The kids market runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of the eighth annual Fall Montgomery County Home and Outdoor Living Show. Admission and parking are free.
Every product on display is made and sold by the kids themselves, according to an announcement on springtx.com. Organizers say kids practice public speaking and learn business basics by selling directly to customers.
The Children's Entrepreneur Market launched in 2017 in Utah after the state passed the country's first "Lemonade Stand Law," which let kids operate small businesses without a permit. The program now operates in all 50 states across 685 cities, with organizers reporting that 93,000 young entrepreneurs have earned an average of more than $150 per event.
Spring-area families who want their kids to participate as vendors can register at kidsmarkets.com. The program is open to children ages 5 through 17.
The broader Home and Outdoor Living Show, organized by Texwood Shows, runs Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and continues Sunday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Inside the convention center, exhibitors cover kitchen and bath remodeling, landscaping, pools, roofing, flooring, generators and HVAC systems. Sponsors include Texas First Bank, KStar Radio, Hello Woodlands, The Lake Radio of Lake Conroe, Home Concepts, The Home Mag and I Love Conroe.
