Dulcy Caylor, an 18-year-old gymnast who lives and trains in Spring, earned a spot on the 2026-27 USA Gymnastics Senior National Team after finishing sixth in the all-around at the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Phoenix.

USA Gymnastics announced the 13-member women's team Sunday, Aug. 9, at the conclusion of the four-day championships held at Mortgage Matchup Center. Caylor also placed fifth on the balance beam.

Caylor trains at World Champions Centre, the Spring facility owned by the family of seven-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles. Her coaches there are Daymon Jones and Patrick Kiens, according to USA Today. They also train teammate Reese Esponda of Shenandoah, who won the national floor exercise title at the same championships with a 28.900 and finished fourth all-around with a 108.900.

Eight of the 13 athletes on the new senior national team have Texas hometowns or train at Texas gyms, according to the Houston Chronicle. Five of the top seven all-around finishers train in or are from the state.

Caylor competed internationally before this year's nationals. She was part of the gold medal-winning U.S. team at the 2025 Pan American Championships.

Inside Gymnastics wrote on X on Saturday, Aug. 8, that Caylor spoke during the championships about recovering from a back injury and her goals heading into the second night of competition:

The nature and timeline of the injury have not been publicly detailed.

The national team designation positions Caylor for possible selection to the squad that will represent the United States at the 2026 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, scheduled for Oct. 17-25 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. That event is the first qualifying opportunity for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Only the top two all-around finishers at nationals, Hezly Rivera and Claire Pease, received automatic invitations to the World Selection Event this fall; additional athletes will be invited later.
