Graduates from all six Spring ISD high schools crossed the stage Saturday, Aug. 8, in a summer commencement ceremony held just days before the new school year begins.
Students from Spring High School, Westfield High School, Dekaney High School, Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, Spring Early College Academy and Momentum High School took part in the celebration, the district announced in a social media post Monday, Aug. 10.
The summer ceremony caps a graduation season that began in June, when 2,140 Spring ISD seniors walked at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center across three days and six separate ceremonies, according to a district recap. The district did not release a count of how many students graduated in the summer cohort.
The timing gives families little breathing room. Spring ISD's first day of school for the 2026-27 year is Wednesday, Aug. 12, just four days after the summer ceremony.
The district heads into the new year on an academic upswing. Spring ISD recorded the highest year-over-year increase among Houston-area districts in students reaching the Meets and Masters grade level on the 2026 STAAR End-of-Course exams, according to results shared in June. Superintendent Dr. Kregg Cuellar touted those gains in a July message to families and staff.
