Superintendent Dr. Kregg Cuellar and Chief of Staff LaTracy Harris spent Wednesday, Aug. 12, moving campus to campus across Spring ISD, greeting students and staff as more than 32,000 kids filed back into classrooms for the 2026-27 school year.

The district's top two leaders visited schools throughout the day, cheering on students and encouraging teachers as the new year kicked off, Spring ISD said on X. Harris posted on X that she was grateful to visit alongside Cuellar and the district's communications team.

Cuellar is entering his second full school year leading the district. He took over as superintendent on Sept. 9, 2025, after three years as Spring ISD's chief of academics and school leadership. The Board of Trustees unanimously extended his contract through 2031 in late June following a year of academic growth.

"This work has never been about one person," Cuellar said in late June, when the board approved the extension. "It belongs to our teachers, principals, support staff, students, families, and Board of Trustees."
