Cheyenne Thomas grew up in a Spring household so steeped in Aggie pride that Texas A&M memorabilia covered the walls and trips to Kyle Field were a family ritual. Now a Texas A&M graduate and aspiring veterinarian, Thomas has added a national pageant title to her resume: Miss Ultimate USA 2026.

Thomas, who attended Lone Star College before transferring to A&M, told KBTX on Monday, Aug. 17, that the win was decades in the making. Her pageant career started when she was six months old, carried onstage by her mother. She spent 20 years competing in the Cinderella pageant system before a friend introduced her to the Ultimate USA organization, a national scholarship pageant open to competitors ages 4 to 27.

"The second I signed up for the state pageant, my heart kind of belonged here," Thomas said. "It was a lot of hard work behind the scenes, lots of tears... you really do put your blood, sweat, and tears into something you truly care about."

At the national competition, Thomas said she abandoned a prepared answer during the onstage question round and spoke from the heart instead. When judges announced her name as the winner, her first instinct was to reach for her mother in the crowd.

Her platform

During her reign, Thomas is championing what she calls the Mirror Mirror Project, a national initiative encouraging girls to embrace their authentic selves. She also hosts a podcast called "Fearless and Undefined," where she interviews girls across the country about how differences like dyslexia, diabetes and alopecia do not define them.

The message is personal. Thomas herself didn't get into Texas A&M on her first try. She enrolled at Lone Star College, kept working and eventually transferred to pursue veterinary medicine.

What's next

Thomas said she plans to balance her title year with veterinary school applications. She credited her mother's constant encouragement, saying her mom has always told her, "Bad days are okay, but your story's not over yet."

No upcoming Spring-area appearances have been announced. Thomas's podcast, "Fearless and Undefined," is available online.
